The Princess

You could stay in Amherst
Put down some roots
...
Get a job at the clinic
Buy a ranch or split-level off
Tonawanda Creek
Go to the old Lutheran church
In the village
Get to know the pastor
And his wife
Find a mate
Drive your kids to band practice
Shop at the Walden Galleria
Or you could go back to Tucson
In your '93 Chevron and
Leave the rest of us wondering
Whatever became of that
Charmingly eccentric woman
With the sun, the moon and
The wild blue ocean in her
Eyes?

Nothing's more
Seductive than leaving
Town.

  2. I am your first follower.

It is a honor and it was an obstacle course (which is to say a pain in the ass). There are all kinds of hoops and things to join if i want to follow you (shit, just like at Albany). ;) Seriously, it's going to difficult to get followers -- it truly was time-consuming.

This poem is gorgeous. The words, the pace, enough answers to enjoy the ones unanswered with a big truth at the end. Very very lovely.

Sorry I've been out of touch. I've had to leave town for a while...
